Accident or Injury
TNT Club Policy
May 1, 2019
TNT club policy in case of accident or injury: If a TNT member/guest falls and cannot get up and regain normal movement, do not move the injured member/guest, nor allow the injured to be moved with assistance. Call 911. We call 911 to insure our members are safe We cannot know what injuries may have occurred as a result of the accident or fall. Simple fractures and sprains are always possible, even though not visible. We can cause additional harm by trying to move the injured. Let the professionals make the decisions. Pick up the red-placarded Emergency phone on the wall of the dance studio, to the left of the entrance door. It automatically dials 911. The 911 operator will want to know what happened, the current state of the victim, name and age, if known. Give them the address posted with the phone. Tell them you are in the Pavilion Studio in front of the Sunset View Clubhouse The next thing they will say is “Don’t move her/him.” In too many cases, we have already moved our member, most likely at their request. Please do not. Caring for our members’ well-being must be our first priority. Wait for paramedics to make that decision. To facilitate arrival, send a member out to the corner of the driveway and Del Webb Blvd so paramedics will more readily know where to turn into the parking area closest to the dance studio.
Instructions are on the wall by the Emergency phone to call our SCPD Security after calling 911. Use your cell phone and call the Security number listed on the wall. They will come to file an incident report. Class will stop until paramedics arrive. Our TNT instructor will take the lead in this type of situation, assisted by any TNT Board member present. Do not crowd around the injured member. They are already uncomfortable and need space. Place a sweater or jacket over them to prevent chill.
If the injured is cut, apply gauze bandages to stop the bleeding. First Aid Kit and bandages/tape are located in the bottom drawer of the file cabinet in the audio/weight room.
For your information, if ever needed, there is also an AED (Automatic Emergency Defibrillator) along with a fire extinguisher, on the wall next to the restrooms.
If you wish to get trained in the use of the AED, CPR or Basic First Aid, there are classes offered at the Mountain View Clubhouse. Check the EPC (Emergency Procedure Committee) link on the SCPDCA website for the scheduled classes.
